On 31st May 2018, LAD and WUR held a signing ceremony for the cooperation of Big Data Quantification and Modelling for Modern Agriculture in China project at Atlas, Wageningen University Campus. Mr. Weihua Dong, Chair of the Board of LAD and Professor Louise Fresco, president of WUR Executive Board signed on behalf of each party.
Professor Louise Fresco and Mr. Weihua Dong both made an opening speech for this ceremony. And then the cooperation agreement were signed. This collaboration project aims to analyze the agricultural data in China, to develop greenhouse and open field crop growth models and an agricultural economics model specifically for Chinese conditions, to validate and apply these models in China and further provide quantitative information on decision-making and management strategies for Chinese agricultural practitioners, investors, equipment suppliers, agro-producers and traders.
Later in this signing ceremony, Professor Leo Marcelis, Head of chair group Horticulture and Product Physiology and Dr. Xinmin Zhang, director of Science and Technology Department, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Netherlands both made speech for this collaboration programme.
After the ceremony, representatives of both parties and all participants went to Wageningen Restaurant of the Future for a luncheon, continue to discuss cooperation detail and the relate issues in a friendly and pleasant atmosphere.
